The third of the triptych this painting continues the play with colour and colour relationships. Clear soft colour is helped by incessant washingf of my brushes in the process. Theabsence of black also encourages clear bright colour to dominate my surfaces.

Salve and Provenance began my painting year off in 2025. They were part of a commission project at the request of a new client.

Provenence marked a new beginning for my client as well as a new beginning for me in a new year on the paintwall at the studio.

Salve got her name because the process of painting and getting back to work after the holidays was a personal salve.

In the depths of winter when we can only imagine the exuberance of the growing season, painting offers a nice counterpoint to the variations on winter’s white theme that appears in our outdoor view.

The Garden Glow series gets it’s glowing name from a hasty shopping trip to the art supply store where I inadvertently came home with a pack of flourescent colours by mistake. My work is said to be colourfyul but these new additions really upped the colour value.

The Glow of the garden Girls is enhanced by the addition of some flourescent colours into the mix as well as the use of contrasts. Colours oppoite on the colour wheel tend to duel, adding some action to surfaces.

This dueling nature inherent with compliments is one of the devices I use that gives my work its signature vibrancy and adds visual movement to a static 2D surface.

Thie Garden Glow group began in the summer of 2024 in our lakeside bunkhouse that I generously call my summer studio. The walls are unpainted and colour tends toreads a little differently when reflected off a wooden surface.

The acid greens and flourescent hints are a loose representation of the memory of lake side garden I came across on a morning bikeride.

The Sweet Treats bloom perennially in my Winnipeg Studio. They are often an introduction to my work for those who are inspired by a garden theme. They are small enough to brighten any interior, yet pack a visual punch that outweighs their fighting class.

I buy canvases 5 at a time to access the discount my art supply store offers so I am always adding 11 × 14’s to the back of my car. Some of them don’t make it to this page so if a Sweet Treat is appealing make sure to add yourself to my newsletter for reliable messaging. As a solo practitioner I’m too busy painting to ever find my way into anyones inbox more than twice monthly.
